Haiti Has A Workable Plan

In July, one of our deacons, Dan Snow, and I went to Haiti to investigate, plan, and prepare for a church rebuilding project. Our objectives were largely accomplished to the glory of God. I think the Haitian pastors were wary at first of our intentions. But after several conversations, discussions, and a visit to an undamaged structure nearby they understood our heart and a little better what needed to be done.

The invitation came through Baptist Mid-Missions Missionary, Mark Swedberg, who is the director of RBP Brazil in Sao Paulo, Brazil.  The press sponsored its first conference for pastors on the general subject of preachers and preaching.  Pastor Bryan Augsberger of First Baptist Church, Arlington Heights, IL, spoke in the morning sessions on the importance and techniques of expository preaching.  In the evening sessions, he modeled that approach by preaching through I Corinthians 1 and 2.

Chris Hindal, director of the IPFBM, announces the reception of the Evangelical Baptist Churches of Rwanda as its newest partner of the International Partnership of Fundamental Baptist Ministries. Rev. Jean Nshimiyimana leads the Evangelical Baptist Churches of Rwanda as president, and Rev. Emmanuel Ndolimana is general secretary. Organized in 2007, the Rwanda association now includes 24 Baptist churches.  The African country of Rwanda unfortunately is known for the genocide that ravaged its land in the 90′s. PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti—Members of a church and children in an orphanage in Haiti are fasting this morning with Pastor Prédestin Hérard. “Without the Lord we would be lost and really life would be hopeless,” says Pastor Hérard, president of the Association des Énglises Evangeliques Baptistes d΄ Haiti. He and his family are doing well, he reports.

Chris Hindal, GARBC international director, reports, “It is incredible to witness the blending together of 22 associating partners from 10 countries in worship, study, interaction, and fellowship around meals and during break times.”

BANGKOK—The first biennial conference of the IPFBM began gathering Nov. 4 from the four corners of the planet. Two busloads left from the Bangkok International Airport to join others who had arrived by car and taxi to commence this multinational event. The Thai Bible School students greeted each attendee with a lei of orchids and a cold drink.

About 20 pastors of the Association of Biblical Baptist Churches of Togo met with Chris Hindal for a 2-day seminar March 31st and April 1st. In addition to the Bible Conference format, Chris was able to spend one session with pastors sharing the purposes of the partnership and answering their questions. Praise God for the pastors’ interest in church planting both in their own country and beyond.

On July 14, we ( 10 Pastors , two Bible women and our Driver) went to Buthe Suh Village. We have sent one of our village missionaries one week ahead to make arrangement. He talked with the village leader and all the villagers, and he purchased bags of rice, mosquito Nets, and other needed materials and he kept all at the village leader’s house.

Dating back 58 years the Association of Fundamental Baptist Churches of the Philippines met in Laoag City for its 29th biennial conference. Chris Hindal, Director of International Ministries of the GARBC spoke three times to the approximately 1500 conferees. The theme, Upholding Biblical Fundamental Baptist Heritage and Legacy, reflects the conservative nature of the association and the heritage it received from the ABWE missionaries of the last 70 years.
