After a nine-hour boat ride down the Amazon, covering 300 miles, Chris Hindal arrived in Caballo Cocha, Peru. He first spoke at a youth rally at Baptist Church on the Rock, where 30–40 young people had gathered for singing, special music, and a Bible message. The youth led the service. Most of the songs were sung in a Peruvian style, though a couple of the choruses came from America and were translated by Andy Large, a veteran missionary with the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism. The group closed the evening with a birthday party for one of the teens.

The following day, Sunday, Nov. 6, Chris spoke at another area Baptist church for the morning service. The congregation of about 30 people listened intently as Chris illustrated the greatness of God as described in Isaiah 40. That night Chris returned to Baptist Church on the Rock to speak. “Pastor Ronaldo is a fine pastor who passionately leads this congregation,” Chris says. The pastor is praying for men who will step up to take leadership positions in the church.
