The congregation of Madera (California) Baptist Church was well represented on the Sunday evening service March 19, when Chris Hindal, director of Regular Baptist International, visited. Most of the folks said, “We are always here when the church doors are open.” Chris noted their warmth and attentiveness. Pastor Peter and Linda Austel reflect a shepherd’s heart as they love and care for this congregation. Several individuals handed checks to Chris on their way out to share in the famine relief in Uganda. A special treat for Chris was to see Mark Lixey, whom Chris had not seen for about 35 years. Mark was a student at Baptist Bible College (now Clarks Summit University), and Chris and Deb were his dorm parents. Pastor Peter, Mark, and Chris enjoyed a meal together after the evening service. Chris was graciously hosted by the Austels overnight.
