Charles and Lourdes Holmes are missionaries in Bangkok, Thailand, with the Philippine Association of Baptists for World Evangelism. They send the following letter.
On Dec. 25–30, 2006, three small trucks loaded 18 members of Rom Phrakhun Gospel Team and headed to northern Thailand to hold evangelistic meetings in Maehongson province of 400,000 Thais, ethnic Karen, and Burmese. Six made decisions for the Lord. On Jan. 22, 2007, we rented a meeting place for new believers. Thank the Lord for several of the Lord’s servants who worked there. By God’s grace, people got saved and were added to the Body of Christ. By God’s amazing provision, the new growing church bought the property, and as God provided the funds, construction for the facilities started.
On Dec. 17, 2011, we flew to Maehongson to share in the rejoicing of the believers as they dedicated the new church worship building and learning center. On Sept. 23, 2016, we flew back there with Cody Jordan to help the church in their revival meetings. It would have taken us 16 hours, going through 1,864 curves, if we had taken the bus! Charlie preached three times and Lourdes taught the youth. The last night, three long-neck sisters from Huay Poo Keng came down to join us. We rejoice in God’s blessing of this church plant.
