Cambodia, like most of Southeast Asia, is predominantly Buddhist. Human trafficking is rampant and corruption permeates everyday life. Motorcycles race to and fro as the preferred method of transportation, and for those without cycles, the Tuk Tuk motorcycle taxis are ubiquitous.
Chris Hindal, director of GARBC International Ministries, and his wife, Deb, split a week between Siem Reap and the capital city, Phnom Penh. Chris spoke to a small group of former gang members who were led to Christ by Rob Cady, a missionary with the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism, and transformed by the grace of God. Rob inquired about Regular Baptist Press materials that Gospel Literature Services can provide to assist him in discipleship.
The Hindals spent time with the ABWE missionary team as well as the Filipino missionaries serving under the Philippine Association of Baptists for World Evangelism. PABWE missionaries in Cambodia partner with the GARBC though the International Partnership of Fundamental Baptist Ministries. Chris spoke on Sunday evening at the PABWE-led church and enjoyed a time of fellowship around a meal together. Monday evening the Hindals met with the ABWE team, and Tuesday evening they got together with the PABWE missionaries, encouraging them in their church-planting efforts.
Ministry in Cambodia is not for the faint of heart or the success-oriented mind. Anyone looking for ministry in a hard place where lost people abound, Cambodia may be God’s appointment for you.
