In Myanmar, Timothy Mang of the Myanmar Biblical Baptist Fellowship is trying to reach the Dawei people with the gospel. Dawei people number about 8,000,000 in the southern part of Myanmar. “Back in 1827, Adoniram Judson and George Boardman reached them with the gospel, but they were not receptive,” Mang says. The Daweis believe “that if they are Dawei people, their religion must be Buddhist, not any other religion.” Today the Dawei people are still strong Buddhists. Four missionaries have been ministering to these people for four years with little success. Mang says that the “Dawei mission might be the hardest mission field here in Myanmar.”
