IN regional singing inlineThe Northeast India IPFBM Regional Conference met in Aizawl, the state capital of Mizoram, Oct. 15–18. Fifty representatives from eight partnering associations in the Northeast, including one from Bangladesh and an Indian missionary in Nepal, attended. An additional 40 people from the local church joined in the evening services. The program included early morning Bible study and prayer, worship, preaching, workshop sessions, ministry reports, and a session discussing the potential of RBP International.

Dr. H. C. Stephen, chairman of the IPFBM Council of Eight, opened the conference as the keynote speaker. He introduced the theme, “Living by Faith,” and challenged each attendee from Hebrews 11. In addition to Dr. Stephen, the speakers were Rev. Khamkhosiam Hangnung, NTBCA executive secretary, and Chris Hindal, director of Regular Baptist International and vice chairman of the Council of Eight. Each message was preached in English and translated into Mizo. The Fundamental Baptist Churches Association of Mizoram served as the conference venue, led the singing, and shared special music. Since the music was sung in Mizo, Chris Hindal often added a postlude by leading a couple verses of the same song in English.

Each partnering association came prepared to give a 15- to 20-minute report on what God is doing through their association. These reports were scattered throughout the conference, punctuating each service. On Sunday evening, after hearing Chris Hindal give a summary report on the global ministry of the IPFBM, Dr. Stephen explained the prospect of organizing RBP International in Manipur. After receiving some initial start-up funds and perhaps some operating cash from the GARBC, the new venture of faith is expected to be self-sustaining. Though some ministries have been receiving free Regular Baptist Press VBS and Sunday School materials through Gospel Literature Services, under the new IN regional eating inlineoperation, each one will be charged an affordable fee. The goal is to have the first VBS curriculum available next spring.

Many thanks go to the youth of the local church who prepared and served all the meals.
