image001Over 700 people from area churches that work with Peru Baptist Bible (Seminario Bautista del Perú) gathered Aug. 29 for a day of sports fellowship. The annual event, now in its 32nd year, is formally titled Baptist Olympics. Contracted buses and private vehicles transported the believers and visitors 40 miles from the city of Trujillo to the campground.

The presentation of churches began at 9 a.m., and then multiple image001competitions followed: foot races, sack races, long jump, high jump, shot put, javelin throw, swimming, tug of war, volleyball, and soccer. When not watching the sporting events, people conversed, ate together, or played informally. The organizing pastors presented awards and recognitions at 5 p.m., and then everyone journeyed back home to Trujillo, tired but happy.
