In Kenya, many orphans “are really needy, living horrible lives,” due to COVID-19, says Cyrus Wanyonyi Chefunea, director of Good Soil Baptist Churches International of Bungoma, Kenya.

Cyrus asks people to pray for the provision of the orphans’ needs, including educational needs. But he thanks God that the spread of COVID-19 has slowed, freeing people in his area “to resume all of our ministry programs.”

Cyrus established Good Soil Baptist Churches International in 2012 with Mianguli Baptist Church, where he is pastor. Their purpose for the organization was to share the gospel, plant churches, train ministry leaders, and support orphans and needy families.

Good Soil Baptist Churches International now has 218 Baptist churches—with more than 28,000 church members—across Kenya and has shared the gospel with more than 60,000 people.

“We were blessed all ways round,” Cyrus says.
