Each summer, Baptist Bible College and Seminary, Clarks Summit, Pa., hosts its Teen Leadership Conference for students and their leaders from churches across the nation. This year the students from each week of TLC raised money for projects sponsored by GARBC International Ministries.

The BBC website reports, “The last two weeks of July saw close to 900 teens and youth leaders fill the BBC campus for Teen Leadership Conferences, a powerful time of equipping young leaders for impact. Teens, youth workers, and youth pastors came together to learn and grow in their Christian faith and were encouraged through fellowship and fun.”

In addition, they gave generously to help international brothers and sisters in Christ. Laura Moore says, “The first week’s project was finishing two church buildings in India. The buildings had been started, but work had stopped because the churches did not have enough funds to finish them. The fundraising goal for the week was $6,000. The 313 students attending that week raised $7,300!”

Students who attended the second week gave their offering to help build a church in Haiti as part of the GARBC’s Hope for Haiti project. The second week’s attendance was larger, with 435 teens and 80 youth sponsors. The goal was $10,000, enough to rebuild one entire church building. By the grace of God, they raised $13,055.

Glenn Amos, pastor of Heritage Baptist Church in Clarks Summit, heard reports by Chris Hindal, director of GARBC International Ministries. Moved by the photos and presentations, and believing the TLC students needed “to experience doing something radical,” Amos initiated these two fund-raising efforts, and Hindal presented each week’s project to the students at TLC.

Chris Hindal says, “Praise God for what He did in the hearts of teens. They came to TLC without any idea of doing a project. In two weeks they gave over $20,000. Teens are not waiting to grow up to do God’s will; God is using them right now. That makes me wonder what God’s people in our churches could do if we let God be Lord of our resources.”
