Today there is a great need for prayer. Rising food costs have for some time now been creating immense tensions in one of world’s poorest countries. Staple food items in Haiti have increased by 50 percent in the past several months. For example, a gallon of oil currently costs $66 Haitian dollars ($8.68 US), a gallon of rice costs $30 HD ($3.95US), and a gallon of black beans costs $40 HD ($5.26 US). In a country where the majority of people are trying to make it on about $1 a day, these food prices mean people can’t feed their families.

This week, protests, demonstrations, and even riots have occurred throughout the country. This crisis is directly affecting us in the association and in the churches. Please help us in your prayers.

your brother, pastor Predestin Pierre Herard.
