LIFE Camp 2011

It is approaching very fast now come August 16–19, 2011. It will be held again at the beach side part of Cambodia. Samaky aims for 30 people to join including unbelievers. Each one needs $20.00 for registration and travel. Please pray for provision for those who would like to go and that the parents of the youth we’ve invited might attend too. We have been praying for them to be saved.

Kindly pray for a good weather, safety for all in travel and during camp, the speaker, counselors, the English teachers, hotel, the staff and our sponsor/s. We are praying that God above all be honored, glorified as many would come to repentance and believers strengthened in their faith.

Dental Care

We continue to have the privilege to bring children and adults for free dental care during Saturday mornings. This is in partnership with a brother doctor serving in one of the International University in Phnom Penh. Many of the children and adults that we brought from the village to the clinic could better smile now ‘coz they have cleaner and whiter teeth. And many can say goodbye to sleepless nights because decayed teeth have either been pulled or filled. God loves the people in Samaky indeed!

There were times I wondered (those who have come here may wonder too) why the Lord allowed us in this seemingly “unstrategic” place. In fact, it’s not only us who are ministering in this village but there are four other evangelical groups as well in the area. Realization: God loves the people here and is concerned that they will not become notorious in the years to come but be better citizens of the country as His light will shine through His people here, cause change in their lives and bring Glory to His Name.

Samaky village is a relocation area for the squatters in the city whose place was burned 10 years ago and one can just imagine the area. The first year we arrived here, one can see in almost every house men and women playing gambling cards early in the morning. Children roam around the streets without clothes and slippers, undernourished, even until. Garbage litter the place and the roads are mostly holes and mud. Impassable sometimes during rainy season. (Thankfully, our road is the best in the area). Rumors go around that some from outside the village come and use drugs in one area here. When I walk the streets, they call me “Mum” sometimes “Om”, the oldest sister of their mother. No problem, they respect the older here.

Now, the place and the people has improved a bit but garbage still litter the place and the roads becoming worse as big trucks and containers come in. We continue to pray for these concerns. The challenge to shine out God’s light in this seemingly “ unstrategic” place continually lay big before us as ever. If we didn’t come here, who will?

Thank you once again for always remembering us in your prayers and for faithfully sending your financial support, so I/we could continue in the ways of the Lord to love and serve Him through the people here … and there.

Truly yours for our Lord’s Mission,
