MYANMAR—Dear Partners,
I. Faith Missionary Training Institute
We had 24 students this year. They stayed together, they ate together, they prayed together, they learned together, they studied together for three months. These students have left their training place and are now in the ministry field.
II. Church Planting/Missionary Movement
(1) New missionary
The most needed thing in order to reach the unreached people groups in Myanmar is committed people. I was overjoyed to conduct a missionary commission service on Sept. 6.
(2) Missionary baptized five Budhist converts
One of our missionaries won five Budhist men and they took water baptism. Right after that, they were known by their neighbors and they reported to the local authorities; they tried to close down the meeting place.
(3) Baptist churches
The church is facing persecution from the authorities again. We have 13 underground churches (house churches) in Yangon City. Last week the local authorities invited the church leaders and told them not to have worship service, prayer meeting, etc. We bought an apartment for meeting place last year. Our hearts are broken again. Please pray for the Yangon churches.
III. Bible College Ministry
(1) Soldier of Jesus Christ
As I have mentioned before, this year we have 171 Bible students. All of them stay at the college dormitory. My son, who is a second year student, formed “Soldier of Jesus Christ” last year. Their goal is to reach the whole country with the gospel. Every evening from 5:00 to 6:00 they have prayer meeting at the college. Now they have 18 members. It is not easy to distribute gospel tracts and Bibles in Yangon City, but they believe that it will be possible. They prayed and divided themselves into five teams and they went out to different directions in Yangon City on Sept. 26. They distributed 346 Gospels of John. They are a real model for other students. I will be leading this team next year onward. My son has written more than 50 gospel songs, which influence our students. More students will want to join this team. They started praying for a van for outreach. You can pray with them; their chorus is “God is able.” It will cost about $200,000.
(2) Soul-winning outreach in December
Every year we did this outreach ministry in December. We sent student to different places for outreach. Every year God saved many people through this outreach ministry. For travel expenses and food about $1,100 will be needed. Every year the Lord provides through someone this need. We do not know who will be used by God to meet this need for this year. Please pray with us for this need also.
IV. Bible Translation
My Falam New Testament is out of the offset printing in Calcuta. It might be on the way to Myanmar. My Falam Chin people are eager to hold that Bible. For the Old Testament project, I have assistant translators. We have finished Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel, Job, and Psalms. I am working on Genesis. It is hard work but precious. Pray for my health.
