Those who receive our Sunday School curriculum are so grateful to God that they have Biblical resources with which to disciple believers. Every week I get requests in the mail from others who desperately plead with me to send them materials so they can be more effective in the work of the Lord.

Here is the dilemma. Regular Baptist Press is the lifeline of Gospel Literature Services. RBP annually supplies the equivalent of one million dollars worth of Sunday School curriculum for free distribution internationally through GLS. For years RBP not only supplied the materials, but also paid for the shipping. About 18 months ago in the normal course of organizational restructuring, an administrative decision was made to shift the responsibility for shipping to Gospel Literature Services. I have willingly accepted the responsibility to raise those funds, but we are far from the target. That decision increased the GLS general fund budget by about $60,000 annually. In 2006 we had $13,829 earmarked for shipping through the adopt-a-church program. That leaves a $46,171 shortfall. Of course it also means that we face a similar shortfall accumulating a greater deficit this year. The point is that we must stop shipping beyond the present funding. We cannot simply continue to ship and fall farther and farther behind.

This picture shows the amount of material for the winter quarter that we simply could not ship due to the lack of funds. This is material that had to be recycled, i.e., destroyed. We had to make room in the warehouse for the new quarter’s material. That is the dilemma. I lay it before you so that you can pray with me. God knows how much these nationals depend on this material. Please intercede on their behalf that this need can be met. If God has entrusted you with His resources, He will also bless you for being part of the solution to this challenge.
