Churches in the Democratic Republic of the Congo can gather again, reports Bertin Mwema, president of the Community of Evangelical Baptist Churches of Congo.

The pandemic “has changed many things, including even hearts of many lost people,” he says. “Lives of many people are changing here as we continue to share [with] them the love of Christ.”

Bertin, a pastor, recently baptized new believers in Lake Kivu, located in an area inhabited predominantly by Jehovah’s Witnesses.

The people he baptized had professed faith in Christ after Bertin shared the gospel in their community. He is now following up with all of the new believers in discipleship and is planning to build a church to further “strengthen these new believers.”
