“Greetings from us here in Malawi!” says Francis Chipukunya, founder and projects leader of Going Home Africa Ministries.

In June, Going Home Africa Ministries started Bethany Children’s Home, a nonresidential after-school learning center, in Mzengezi. This area of Malawi is “extremely poor” and does not “value child education very much,” Francis says.

Currently 155 children (80 girls and 75 boys, from age four to students in high school) attend the home. The children come from different churches and religious backgrounds. But at Bethany Children’s Home, all of the children learn truths from the Bible.

“We want to see lives of children being transformed through a relationship with Jesus Christ,” Francis says. “We want to see children have deeper knowledge of God.” Further, the home wants to see the children “actively fulfilling” God’s commands to love God and others and to make disciples “in their homes, schools, churches, communities, the nations, and the world.”

Looking toward the future of Bethany Children’s Home, Francis plans to begin a meal program for the children, send poor girls to secondary schools, and establish and equip a computer room.

Prayers, workers, and  resources are urgently needed for the home’s current programs and future plans, Francis says.
