Living conditions are still difficult for many in Congo following the eruption of a volcano May 22.

Those who fled the eruption returned to their neighborhoods a few days later. Some people returned to find that their homes had been spared damage from the lava, but other people lost their homes and belongings. Those who lost their homes are now living in schools or makeshift tents.

Some of Pastor Safari Munyakazi’s own church members are now living in these tent cities, but food and basic necessities are scarce. Safari is president of the Community of Free Baptist Churches in Congo.

“Continue to pray for us so that we can find the means to come to their aid,” he says.
