On the north side of Tokyo stands a church building representing the miraculous power of God. Bethel Baptist Church, pastored by Japanese-born Joe Mita, a missionary with Baptist Mid-Missions, rented facilities for nearly 20 years, as do most fundamental Japanese churches. God provided a facility in an amazing way, allowing the church to acquire a former electrical shop and the owner’s attached home. The home even has a Jacuzzi in which to immerse new believers as a testimony to God’s saving grace.

With only minor renovations, the church was readied for use. The parking area holds 12 cars, but a vacant lot next door is on the church’s radar as a prayer target for additional parking.

Chris and Deb Hindal were treated royally by this pastor and wife and congregation. Chris presented the IPFBM partnership during the Sunday School hour and then challenged the congregation with its outreach responsibility. Two ladies made public decisions about their service for the Lord.

Following the morning service, everyone gathered in the fellowship room upstairs for a wonderful meal and enriching conversation. Less than 1 percent of people in Japan are born-again Christians. Freedom of religion coupled with materialism makes the people unaware of their need and lostness.
