COVID-19 is affecting the well-being of orphans in the 22 orphanages operated by the Eastern Uganda Baptist Association.

Uganda has been in lockdown since June 11. “All necessary social services are closed down,” says Joshua Masaba, president of the Eastern Uganda Baptist Association.

Food and medical supplies are the most needed items for the orphans. Some of the orphanages have been farming to feed the children. “Unfortunately, the climate this year has been dry due to serious drought that affected all types of crops, resulting in poor or no harvest,” Joshua says.

It is uncertain when the lockdown will end.
