The Fellowship of Baptist Churches in Assam, India, constructs a church in Alipur.

Nabin C. Singha is chairman of the Fellowship of Baptist Churches in Assam, India. He sends the following ministry report.

Construction started Jan. 8 on a new church to replace the 70-year-old building of Alipur Baptist Church, which had been demolished due to its deteriorating condition. I serve as chairman of the church building committee, and we delegated a four-member supervisory team to look after the whole construction.

Construction has been going on full swing even though there was some halt due to virus lockdowns between April and July. As of November, these tasks are finished: brick walls, iron frames and tin sheets for the roof, wall plastering, painting, two-stage floors for the pulpit area, and cement for the enlarged hall floor. The team is now working on the doors and windows, front side spire, classrooms, ceiling, and electrical fittings for lights, fans, and the sound system.

We have exhausted the building fund. The cost already spent so far is approximately Rs. 12 lakh ($16,283 USD). We need about another Rs. 3 lakh ($4,070 USD) to complete the construction.

The government of Assam, under the “Assam Darshan Scheme,” has granted Rs. 10 lakhs ($13,569 USD) recently for infrastructure development, like a walkway with railings from the hospital’s main road to the church, retaining walls, and a bathroom. The government will send its own engineer and workers to construct these! Praise God for this provision. We thank the Assam government for this grant.

Leaders of the Fellowship of Baptist Churches and the Karbi Anglong Baptist Fellowship meet in Diphu, India.

In addition to the construction, we are praising God that six people professed Christ as Savior in September, October, and November, and two people were baptized on Sept. 5. Please pray for these individuals’ spiritual growth.

On Nov. 17, eight leaders of the Fellowship of Baptist Churches met in Diphu with pastors of nine churches affiliated with the Karbi Anglong Baptist Fellowship. This fellowship is thinking and praying about affiliating with us. Pray for a joint witness and service to the Lord that will result in saving more lost souls and strengthening churches.
