Kenya hut inlineIn Kenya, Good Soil Baptist Churches is reaching the Pokot and Turkana tribes with the gospel of Christ. Director Cyrus Wanyonyi Chefunea sends the following ministry update.

We have set our new year programs in new areas of Pokot and Turkana. These communities are not yet fully reached with the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ. It takes 14 hours by bus to travel from Bungoma to Lodwar, where we have Turkana people, and 10 hours to Pokot, where we have Pokot people. I visited Pokot Jan. 15–18. We had a good time there. We preached and witnessed to the people; 28 gave their lives to Jesus. Jan. 23–25 we visited Lodwar. We witnessed and preached; 55 got saved. These areas are very hot; people sleep outside their homes. They keep moving from place to place for grassing their animals.

Last year we had 42 churches in Kenya and Uganda. This year we pray that we will reach and plant more churches in unreached communities in Kenya and Uganda.

Pray for Mechimeru Baptist Church. They bought a plot and constructed a church building in 1997, but last week someone came and claimed that the land was his, so he destroyed the church building, claiming they constructed on his land. The government intervened and determined that the church should move, but constructing is a problem. Pray for God to provide the construction of a building for Mechimeru Baptist Church before the rainy season begins. Pray also for our team as we go to new places with the gospel.
