Billy Judson of Good News Baptist Assembly, Secunderabad, India, took a ministry trip to Sri Lanka. Billy, the son of the association’s founder and president, Dr. G. Jaya Sekhar, sends the following ministry report.

Praise be to God, as I had a wonderful trip to Sri Lanka. It was a great opportunity and privilege to learn by visiting another Asian country. I got to visit the central province called Watawala, a remote village in the mountains surrounded by a tea plantation. I also got to visit Negombo, Katunayake, and Nugegoda cities in Colombo.

The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka is an island country in South Asia; the population practices a variety of religions. As of the 2011 census, 70.2% of Sri Lankans were Buddhists, 12.6% were Hindus, 9.7% were Muslims, and 7.4% Christians (6.1% Roman Catholic and 1.3% other Christian) of the 21 million population.

I visited two major printing presses, New Life Literature (Pvt) Ltd. (Evangelicals) and PrintAge Press Pvt Ltd. (secular printers), and got to share our ministry with the following key people and their teams:

  1. Back to the Bible—Mayukha Perera, Director
  2. Campus Crusade for Christ—Mr. Lasantha Soysa, Director
  3. The Ceylon Bible Society—Roshen Ishara, Manager
  4. TWR—Sanjaya Dulanka Rasanjana, National Director
  5. Gideons International Srilanka—Chapel President

My goals were to share about our Good News Bible College and Seminary teaching methodology in India, gain more contacts and learn best ministry practices, look out for leadership, and check out the possibilities to start a teaching site to equip nationals to reach this nation.
