OogaThomas_inlinePastor Thomas Ooga was elected general secretary of the Independent Faith Baptist Churches of Kenya at its annual meeting Oct. 6–9. He sends the following letter:

We thank God for the annual meeting held in the south coast of Ukunda, Mombasa. Forty-four churches attended out of 74 of all the churches of Independent Faith Baptist Churches of Kenya. During this time, we learned that some churches have no trained pastors and that other pastors have left to join other churches due to hard times their churches were facing. We also learned that the majority of our pastors could not reach their members because the places are far and pastors have to walk a long distant to reach them and the church. It was our prayer and hope for all the pastors to have motorbikes so that many souls can be reached and the pastors could have effective ministries.

The biggest task ahead for me as general secretary is strengthening the fellowship: visiting the 10 regions we have all over Kenya to make sure that many churches are being opened and to see how we can train our pastors for the work of the ministry.

Pray for me and the task ahead, for which funds are needed.
