We praise the Lord for being our helper over the past six months. The following is a brief summary of some of the achievements we made from January to June, 2008.

Attendance
A) The average attendance for Sunday morning Worship Services is 525
B) Wednesday Prayer Meting attendance average is 35

Baptism
One baptismal service was held and 15 persons were baptized. A total number of 17 persons completed the New Believers class and were given their baptismal certificates of membership.

Evangelism
The department of Evangelism continues to reach out to the community on a weekly basis. As the result of the out reach many including a Muslim girl accepted the Lord as her Savior and is now in the Baptism class.

Dedication of choir gowns

In April a special dedicatory service was held to officially dedicate the choir gowns that were donated to the church through the Open Door Baptist August 2007. We thank the Lord for the church that gave these gowns to be use by the Calvary Baptist choir.

Fellowships and New Churches

The Suakokko Golgotha Baptist Church which was damaged by the last war in 2003 has now been renovated and worship services have resumed there.   The Central Baptist church in the Pipeline Community is being given a face-lift as the rain season reaches it peak. The membership of this new church is gradually growing. The pastor was relocated near the fellowship when Calvary Baptist rented a two room apartment to house him and his family. Meanwhile there are plans on the way by the church and the school board to build a church building in Todee (about 60 miles from the capital Monrovia) which will be used for both worship and school to educate the town’s people children. The Barnersville fellowship will soon open as pastor Peter Gbele takes over that works. Meanwhile the church has decided to help Second Calvary Baptist church to support pastor Cyrus Numbeh who pastors the new church in Banjol ( a Muslim dominated community outside of Monrovia).

Our visit to Bong County

During the early part of month of July, we made two trips to Bong County. The first trip was to Bong Mines (a former mining concession town) where Pastor U-Joe Weidehgar and I have gone to teach at the Bong Mine Bible School that we established to train pastors in that part of the country. Pastor Elvis Dissee of the Repentance Baptist church in Upper Todee who resides in Bong Mines and teaches in this school has invited us to teach Church Planting and Homelitics for one week. Ten pastors are presently attending the Bible school.

On July 22 my wife Rose and I went to Gbarnga at the invitation of Pastor Jonathan Dolo- a graduate of the Jake Memorial Baptist College in Monrovia- to preach at the fourth anniversary of his church. Pastor Dolo is the pastor of the Repentance Baptist church in Gbarnga. The church was started when he finished Bible school in 2003.

Pastors Fellowship
The Montserrado Independent Pastors Association that I head has been meeting regularly since this year. We meet once a month to pray, have seminars amongst ourselves and to encourage each others in our ministries. Two major seminars were held in June and July. One was a seminar on Marriage and Divorce and the others was a seminar on Project Proposal Writing. In our efforts to empower ourselves, the pastors have decided to go into agriculture program to provide. The purpose of this program is to generate income in order to support its endowment. The pastors’ endowment program which was started few years ago is geared at helping old pastors who are no longer in the ministry and pastors that are in distress.

Sunday Schoo
l
A new Sunday School Curriculum was developed and is presently being implemented by all the classes. The curriculum is based on our theme for year
“Jesus is coming Again”.

The Development of the Jake Memorial Baptist College

In fulfillment of its promise to turn over the 11th Street Mission compound to the national for use by the Bible college, Baptist Mid Mission finally signed the deed and turned over the property to the college. The deed was sent through the mission representative Rev. Mark Sheppard who presently works with the college. Thanks to Dr. Gary Anderson and the staff of the mission at Cleveland. The college presently has more than 25 students. Through the help of some faithful Liberian Christians, the college now has an internet facility which will greatly help the teachers in their MA program.

Church Edifice
The church edifice was rewired and new fans installed. A new 5.5kva diesel generator was bought for use by the church through the Anniversary Committee. Nine additional pews were made to help solve the seating problems.

Pastor’ Residence
The pastor’s residence has now been connected by LWSC and now receiving water.

Church Election
During the period under review, a new corps of church officials were elected. Positions that were filled include: Church Clerk, Treasurer, Sunday School Superintendent and School Board members.

Plans for the second half of the year.

1. Complete the Central Baptist church
2. Start worship services at the Barnersville fellowship
3. Start and complete the Todee church building
4. Tiling of the church edifice

Prayer Requests

1. Please join us to pray for the successful completion of these projects.
2. Transportation is a necessity for the ministry in post war Liberia. The 1991 Opel Vectra that was given to the church to be used by me has out lived its usefulness. We have repaired and over hauled it many times. For the past two weeks it has been to the garage for more than three times. We are praying and trusting the Lord for a better vehicle that will help facilitate our ministry here. Please pray for us in this direction.

Yours in His service

Pastor G. Larque Vaye
