MANIPUR, India—The Lord has been very good to us in every way, in the field as well as in the homefront. I would like to share some specific areas of God’s blessing: A piece of land, about one acre, intended for the leadership training center in northern India bordering Nepal was purchased. Two motorcycles and one refrigerator were also purchased for the missionary families. Many souls were saved from the different camps and VBS programs. And we praise God that the four boys who ran away from the school and joined an insurgent group were released and returned safely home. Shalom Academy completed a two-story building with five classrooms on each floor. This was a joyful moment, as this addition will provide many opportunities to reach more souls for the Lord. The state board exam results were the best yet in Shalom history.

Pastor Kamal Gurung—his ministry, even though based in Dimapur, Nagaland, in Northeast India, has recently been extending to other states and Nepal. His recent trip to the town of Siliguri, bordering Nepal, was a success. Several types of literature were given out, including Bibles in English and Nepali, tracts, and other literature. Seven house church meetings were conducted both in India and Nepal. The Hindu Defense Army is the prominent Hindu group in the area threatening churches and house fellowship groups using intimidation and violent force.

Other good news is that Kamal has accepted the challenge to go and start a brand new church in Siliguri, where we bought a piece of property by the Nepal border. The area is unchurched and is of great spiritual need. One of the battles they are going to face will be opposition to the gospel. Pray for the Gurung family, that they will have the confidence and boldness to stand in the midst of the enemy.

Bible camp/VBS was conducted at Bethel Baptist Church for the adults with a VBS program concurrently held at George Muller School, Aug. 13–17. About 20 adults participated at the Bible camp, while about 140 children was the average daily attendance at the VBS. Of this, 73 children have accepted Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.

Bottom line—we are blessed. God is still on His throne, ruling and reigning on our behalf. Our needs are met, we can still be a blessing to others, and many others are being a blessing to us. Thank you to all who have a part in blessing our lives.
