Meeting in Bangalore, the South India regional conference of the International Partnership of Fundamental Baptist Ministries convened on Oct. 21–23 with 45 church leaders. Dr. Sathish Divakar, president of Beacon Baptist Seminary, coordinated a local group to organize the conference, held at Frontier Management Center, a Christian conference center. Dr H. C. Stephen, chairman of the IPFBM council of eight, and Chris Hindal, director of Regular Baptist International, shared the speaking responsibilities. Many of the attendees were unaffiliated Baptists whom Divakar had invited, believing their attendance could be a catalyst to challenge them to a more cooperative approach to fulfilling the Great Commission.
“What is amazing about our Indian brothers is their tireless efforts to reach the villages with the gospel,” Hindal says. “I met more than one that had been beaten or imprisoned for the cause of Christ, but they stay the course and continue to storm the gates of Hell. We must do everything possible to encourage them and assist them in reaching the lost souls of India.”
