The New Life Regular Baptist Society, Andhra Pradesh, India, held several programs celebrating Christmas and the new year.

Those programs included a January 1 baptism service, where 21 people were baptized; a program for children living with their mothers in prison January 26, with 23 children trusting Christ as Savior; and five Christmas programs in sister churches.

“We praise the Lord for His providing to conduct these programs. All glory goes to Him,” says Prasad Sakile, a pastor with the Andhra Pradesh association.

The association also distributed 750 pairs of clothes to poor members of its churches as Christmas gifts, gave 864 Sunday School children Christmas gifts, and completed door-to-door evangelism in four Hindu areas.

“At present we are facing severe persecution in my region from Hindu religion extremists,” Prasad says. “[The] Indian government [is] trying to stop Christian activities. Please continue to pray for Indian ministry workers.”

Pray, too, for newly saved individuals and the churches’ Sunday School ministry, Prasad adds. The association plans to lead a training program for pastors and Sunday School teachers but is “facing financial difficulty for these programs.”
