Most of the news from Mindinao is bad, but Chris and Deb Hindal report good news from this remote island of the Philippines. Daniel and Ruthie Asuncion, members of the Bethel Baptist Church of Malaybalay, stepped away from the programs and facilities of the big church to reach the more poverty-stricken people in the rural mountains. Every Sunday they worship under a make-shift roof even using the shade of trees as some of their classrooms. Young families with children walk up to 2 hours along dirt mountain paths to receive both spiritual and physical nourishment.

Using RBP materials, the Asuncion’s reported a VBS attendance of approximately 100 children. The invitation to come will not reach these rural folks because they are too shy to enter a city church. The Asuncion’s have rather chosen to obey the command to go. God is graciously extending His salvation to an otherwise neglected people. Praise God that through Gospel Literature Services these Biblical resources are reaping eternal dividends.
