A congregation in Congo is now meeting in its new church that had been under construction since last winter.
The new church, part of the Community of Evangelical Baptist Churches of Congo, replaces the association’s Mahanga village church that was destroyed amid rebel fighting. This church is the only Baptist church in the area.
“Now we have started using this church, and new members are coming to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior,” says Pastor Bertin Mwema. He says 85 people attending the church have accepted Christ as Savior.
“I wish you can see how people are rejoicing, happy to have new church building after many years meeting and worship our Lord outside,” Bertin says.
A grant from Regular Baptist International helped fund the construction. Bertin thanks Regular Baptist International and its donors for providing the grant. “Because of you, we now have a place where we can meet to worship the Lord,” he says. “God bless everyone who supported this work.”
