Jesse Quapourlee is pastor of New Testament Baptist Church, Liberia, West Africa, which he began in 2002. He sends the following letter.

Our Christmas service was marked with great joy and unity among the believers. A component of our church building was well decorated with fine clothes and curtains. There a sample of Baby Jesus was laid and everyone went to present gifts to Him. The significance of the Virgin Birth of Christ was greatly stressed in the Christmas message. The believers greatly rejoiced in the message and praised the Lord for sending forth His only Son in the flesh to be borne by a virgin woman to save us from our sins.

I am also pleased to share with you the great things the Lord did the night of New Year’s Eve. The service was well attended by believers and non-believers from our community. There was insufficient space for all the attendees to sit down; therefore, a lot of people stood for almost four hours just to listen to the last message of 2012, titled “Come to Jesus” from Matthew 11:28–30.

The Holy Spirit greatly used the message to draw people to our Savior. At the close of the message, many people walked toward the altar, mourning for their sins, and some publicly admitted that they have been badly living in sin and had come that Jesus would save them from their sins. About five people rededicated their lives to Christ, and 14 promised to receive believer’s baptism this year. To God only be the honor and glory forever!

Last, we need your prayers for these challenges: (1) Our church mission (Baptist Rural Mission) is conducting a mini Bible conference among the churches planted through New Testament Baptist Church Jan. 10-13 in Gwekporlusu, Margibi County. We now need $300 to help transport and feed the people. Immediate help toward these needs will greatly relieve us of the fears of not having warm fellowship in the Word at the conference. (2) To date, we have received no funds for the roofing of our new church building under construction, and we need the building as soon as possible, because as you continuously pray for us, the believers are increasing by the day. Please put this request on the top of your prayer list’s priorities; we will highly appreciate it if you do.
