“The first quarter of the year was really a blessing,” says Pastor John Abedu-Kennedy of Ghana, West Africa . He sends the following highlights:

New Year’s Day

New Year’s Day is observed in many nations as a national holiday and thankfully, including Ghana. Many people use the day for social gatherings and activities. Our churches in theIMG_1424 central region used the day for a church picnic. This year our picnic activities included baptizing 22 people—five from the Apam church, 14 from Mumford, and three from the Kasoa outreach. Pastor Josiah gave the New Year message. Five people among the visitors professed Christ.

Visit to Liberia, Feb. 8–22

My visit to Liberia was a wonderful opportunity to see many brethren. We labored with them for 17 years and had missed seeing each other for over 20 years, since 1990. It was a blessing.

Easter Sunday, March 31

We had a joint Apam-Mumford Church service in Apam. It was a wonderful opportunity to see 18 believers in Christ baptized—eight from the Apam church and 10 from Mumford. Over 300 people besides children were in attendance. Twenty-one people made professions of faith in Christ.

Easter Monday, April 1

On this national holiday we had a joint door-to-door tract sharing in Apam township. We divided the community into 10 zones among 89 church members, who visited and shared over 1,000 tracts with over 500 people. About 86 men and women professed Christ and 33 confused people asked us to pray with them. We have been doing intensive follow-up. We hope to do it in Mumford church next year.

Bible Institute First Graduation

Our Bible institute, established in 2009, will hold its first graduation this year, Lord willing, on Aug. 31. Thankfully a dear brother, Pastor David Crabb of First Baptist Church, Lapeer, Mich., has consented to be our guest preacher. Praise God! We would love to have more than one guest of honor. Would you prayerfully join Pastor Crabb to encourage and challenge our called men, graduates, and church plants?
