In Myanmar, Pastor Nang Za Thawn, president of the Evangelical Baptist Conference of Myanmar, has been evangelizing unreached people in the village of Naungket. A team joined him in this ministry.

“The village is a strong Buddhist village,” Nang says. “It is on the east side of the Yu River; we are on the west.”

“God honored our efforts and answered our prayers,” Nang says. Three men professed faith in Christ and “were baptized there and then.”

These new believers helped plant a house church, but they are now excommunicated from their community. “Praise God they have never forsaken their commitment to Jesus despite life’s difficulties,” Nang says. “Please pray for them.”

Nang and the team also planted a house church in the village of Sayar Saan. The church was planted after Nang visited the village a few times and the Lord opened the way to evangelize these people. Six people professed faith in Christ and were baptized.

“Established by the military government, the village is a strong village, maintained and supported by the military government,” Nang says.

“Praise God there is a house church now. We are glad that there are some believers in this village and there is a house church amidst the pagodas.”
