Bible Study and Witnessing Opportunities in Cambodia

Judith Guarte is a Filipino missionary serving in Cambodia with the Philippine Association of Baptists for World Evangelism.

Our hearts were bubbling with joy as three people decided to receive Jesus into their lives as Savior and Lord the past two weeks. One young guy in our English Sunday School invited his newfound Filipino friend to a prayer meeting and worship. During Sunday School, we shared the gospel with him, and when I asked him if he wanted to receive Jesus into his life, he answered yes. He had previously thought that after doing what God commands him to do, he would go to Heaven when he died, hoping that God would let him in. But after he prayed to receive Jesus, I asked him again what his answer would be if God were to ask him why he should be let into Heaven. He said, “Because Jesus died for my sin and I received Him as my Savior.” The angels must have been rejoicing! He desires to straighten his life. He was with us again last weekend.

The father and daughter in our Bible study every Sunday afternoon also received Jesus into their lives last Sunday. The daughter had attended worship services before, and the father has been worshiping with us since we have been holding a Bible study in their house for two months. I presented to them the full gospel, and they readily prayed to receive Jesus as their Savior and Lord. Please pray for their faith to become firm, as they are already under some persecution.

In Samaky, the gospel was shared to a parent of our youth, a grandmother, and another lady. We sow the seeds, and “God gives the increase.”

Outreach in Kratie

Thank God for sending a team of five who helped with witnessing in October. Early in the morning on Oct. 20, 13 of us left for a daylong missions outreach in Kratie, the border of Cambodia and Vietnam; we arrived back home after midnight. The five-hour trip became a seven-hour trip because we had to detour around floods. The road to the house of our contact was not passable, so we left our van at a house, walked part of the way, and then rode motorcycles to reach the place. Praise the Lord for His provision and safety.

Arriving in Kratie, the team was all hungry and hot, but the 70 to 80 adults and children who greeted us were a great inspiration. The believers who gathered were encouraged by the Word, the gospel was shared to a number of people, a Bible story was told to the children, and the sick received checkups and were given medicine if we had it. One couple is now even more inspired to teach their classes, as four folding tables and 10 chairs were donated by friends.
