Last year, teens attending Teen Leadership Conference at Baptist Bible College, Clarks Summit, Pa., sacrificially gave $7,300 to help construct church buildings in India. (Read about that event at baptistbulletin.org.) Now Glenn Amos (then TLC director), Dwight Peterson (the new TLC director), and Chris Hindal (director of GARBC International Ministries) participated in the inauguration of those new churches in India. The special services in May were marked by ribbon-cutting, music, a prayer of dedication, preaching, and refreshments. After each service, members of the congregation remained for an all-night prayer meeting.

The U.S. team also led a one-day pastors’ conference with about 100 pastors attending, as well as two open-air gospel services.

On Saturday the team participated in the inauguration of Suvaartha TV, a Christian television channel, founded and operated by Luther Chatla. He is the principal of Mount Zion Baptist Bible College in South India and son of Dr. Chatla Devasahayam, president of the Indian Christian Bethel Baptist Gospel Fellowship and vice chairman of the International Partnership of Fundamental Baptist Ministries Council of Eight.

“Suvaartha,” explains the channel’s website, is the Telugu word for “gospel.” Following Jesus’ command to teach the gospel to all nations is the channel’s driving force. Suvaartha TV is “accessible to nearly five million people,” as it is aired throughout the entire Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh, “the academic, financial and political highpoint of the State.”

All of these dedicated partners have the vision and commitment to follow the Great Commission with or without resources, says Chris Hindal. “May God continue to bless their zeal for the spread of the gospel.”
