The weeks leading to Christmas and the end of the year are always busy in Ghana with lots of activities—funerals, weddings, revival meetings, and more. We always spend the night of Dec. 31 at church till the Lord ushers us into the new year. The church was fully packed with both familiar and unfamiliar faces. The Word of God was powerfully but briefly preached.

The men, women, and youth fellowships had wonderful meetings. I have had the opportunity to preach at many of those meetings. Earlier this year I taught the youth on end times. It amazed me that some of them had never heard about such things as the Rapture and Tribulation. One meeting was definitely not enough to answer their curious questions; I had to rush from a Bible club last Friday in order to meet with them again.

The block work for the Dansoman Baptist Academy building is now complete. Praise God! At this point we have redeemed a bit of the lost glory and respect with the community. A few members reported that people were making delightful comments, after seeing the school block taking shape. Someone commented, “It is a giant leap.” They lamented how the building was left for years to dilapidate. Enrollment, therefore, is slowly improving. We still have much work to do—plastering, floors, frames, windows, doors, and so on. Money that was borrowed and raised for the project has been depleted; it will take some $50,000 more to finish. We shall tread slowly, trusting in the power of God.

Our maiden “functional leaders” meeting last week was marvelous. The idea is to meet frequently with members whose ministry affects the lives of others. I hope to inspire Sunday School teachers, fellowship and group leaders, and deacons to inspire others, as Paul instructed Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:2. Such an endeavor fits our theme for the year, “Zealous of good works” (Titus 2:14).

Praise the Lord for bringing us this far. Thank you for praying with us.
