Tido Baptist Church, in the Tido neighborhood of Kisumu, Kenya, hosted a three-day Bible Conference, inviting Chris and Deb Hindal as speakers. Pastor Jonathan and his wife, Jessica, started this ministry in a poor section of town to bring the gospel to this unreached people. Pastor Jonathan is a dynamic young man whom God has used to plant 40 churches. His heart’s desire is to leave a legacy of trained young men who will proclaim the gospel to the next generation.

Tido Baptist Church is a tin building located on a rented piece of property on which the pastor’s rented house is also situated. He raises chickens and goats to supplement his income and feed his five children.

The conference schedule included morning and afternoon sessions; Chris Hindal took participants through the book of James. In African style, the attendees lifted their voices with rhythmic music in praise to God. Pastor David Osoyi, president of the Independent Faith Baptist Churches of Kenya, an IPFBM partner, assisted as a translator along with Pastor Jonathan. Twice during the conference, men and women divided and Deb spoke to the ladies while Chris spoke to the men. Three or four area pastors also attended some of the sessions.

“It was good to renew friendship with Pastor Gideon and his wife, Esther, who hosted us at their church six years previously,” Chris says. “The humble beginning of Tido Baptist Church shows indications that God is going to do a great and strategic work in this place.”
