Uttam Tripura is the director of administration and education for the Bangladesh Tribal Association of Baptist Churches. He sends the following letter:
It so painful to share with you that the government of Bangladesh closed Compassion International’s Child Sponsorship Program in the Hill Tracts areas of Bangladesh; therefore, it is also affecting our five BTABC projects. The future of over 950 children involved in these projects is now uncertain.
Compassion International has assisted our hostel program, giving one meal per day for each child under Compassion sponsorship (all the children are from our Christian churches). Also, the primary school depended on the fees from a Compassion project. In the past, half of our funds came from Compassion, 20 percent
came from local income, and 30 percent were gifts. Now we need 70 percent from others, and we’ll raise 30 percent locally.
If we do not receive funding, we will have to close the school and hostel by the end of March. From April to December of this year we will need $2,200 for the school, and $3,500 for the hostel.
Pray with us that God will open a door to fund the school and hostel.
