Haiti Churches Waiting for Assistance

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti—Living in tents, many of their homes and churches destroyed by the Haiti earthquake, international partners of the GARBC are waiting for the support of U.S. churches. Chris Hindal, director of international ministries for the GARBC, has just returned from visiting Baptist pastors who have been displaced by the disaster and have nowhere to turn for help.
Through the International Partnership of Fundamental Baptist Ministries, Hindal is urging GARBC churches to assemble work teams that would be…
Greek Kids Magazine

The ancient history of Greece marks the landscape of this idyllic Mediterranean country. It is a Biblical country in that the Apostle Paul ministered in several of its cities such as Athens, Corinth, Berea and Thessalonica. The rich Greek culture makes it an intriguing place to visit.
The Greek Orthodox church maintains a tight grip over the people’s religious and even political views. Greek law prohibits anyone from evangelizing or even having a conversation of faith with a child…
Myanmar Cyclone Relief

The cyclone that hit Myanmar has horrific implications. The news outlets are reporting tens of thousands dead and scores of thousands still missing. At this point the numbers are changing every day, and differ between news outlets.
Partner in the Philippines 29th Biennial Conference

Chris Hindal, Director of International Ministries of the GARBC spoke three times to the approximately 1500 conferees. The theme, Upholding Biblical Fundamental Baptist Heritage and Legacy, reflects the conservative nature of the association and the heritage it received from the ABWE missionaries of the last 70 years.
Fervent Prayer Avails Much

In southern India a local Baptist Church includes an extended time of corporate prayer into their monthly church calendar. Dr. Chatla Devasahayam pastors the Bethel Baptist Church in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. When he and his wife moved to the area in 1980, they moved into a hut with a thatched roof. They began reaching out with the message of the gospel in their area which is 85 percent Hindu. God blessed His Word and their faithfulness. Today…

Thailand: Hope for a Dark Land

The southeast Asian country of Thailand shares borders with Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Malaysia. At least 98 percent of Thais would claim allegiance to Buddhism. To be Thai is to be a Buddhist. To profess faith in Jesus Christ alone as Savior and to declare that faith openly in baptism brings the certainty of isolation and ridicule by family and friends. Consequently, the Thai people weigh such a decision carefully, usually for several months or even years. Decision-oriented evangelistic methods…
India: The Gospel Beam Grows Brighter

The subcontinent of India, with its 1.1 billion people, is a confluence of ancient cultures. Indian life derives most of its traditions from Hindu religion and mythology. The multicolored Hindu temples and the strange-looking idols decorate every village and town. It is truly a country of spiritual darkness. Even though hundreds of fundamental Baptist churches beam out the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the vastness of the population makes the task of evangelism seem formidable.
RBP materials in Thailand

Two young Thai ladies, Grace and Pet, have spent a multitude of countless hours over the past 2 years translating the three-year cycle of Primary materials. Not only do they translate the text, but they also reconfigure the activities on the workbook pages so that they make sense in the Thai language. These materials are then photocopied and distributed to several local churches.
Kenya Emergency Relief Needed

Information is coming in concerning the condition of some of our partners in Kenya. The outcome of the national elections on December 27th has led to rioting, killing and the destruction of property. We have partners through the IPFBM who are in the affected regions. An email from one our partners stated, “right now I have 20 families being hosted in our church compound, plus the orphans…we are appealing to church bodies and individuals who are willing to support these…
Urgent Prayer Request: Believers, Pastors and Missionaries in Kenya
When Chris and Deb Hindal visited Kenya one year ago, they moved around the country without any sense of unrest or insecurity. Our partners in Kenya are planting churches and fulfilling the great commission in their part of God’s vineyard. Chris was blessed to speak at a conference for the association of churches.
All of that changed in the wake of the presidential elections. Literally overnight tribal groups have erupted in fighting and bloodshed over the political maneuvering and…
2007 Highlights
By Chris Hindal, Director
What were the 2007 highlights for the International Ministries of the GARBC? It is a good exercise to reflect back before you plan ahead, lest we become short-sighted or lop-sighted.
When I accepted this position, I asked Dr. Mark Jackson if he would go with me on my first trip to India. That trip took place in January into February 2007. It was a pass-the-baton type of trip. Dr. Jackson knows our partners in India and…

Equipping Mexico

One of the purposes of Digital Impact is to equip missionaries and national pastors with tools to spread the gospel to the lost. During our DVD recording of the third course in the Spanish-language training courses, I had the opportunity to fulfill that purpose with a pastor from Mexico City. Dave Anthony (from Baptist Church Planters) and I met Pastor Eduardo Ortiz and his family in Iowa. Pastor Ortiz was invited to teach a class on Biblical doctrine, and we…
Haiti Missions Trip

SHELBY, MICHIGAN—Shelby Road Baptist Church reports that it did not take long for its participants in a recent missions trip to Haiti to see the great need of that country. At times it felt as though they were only putting a temporary Band-aid on some of these problems by offering vitamins, pain killers, antibiotics, and so forth. God, however, helped them to see that while Haiti appears to be a country filled with hopelessness, they had the opportunity to share…
